What kind of body do you want? It’s a key question.
It’s as real of a question today as it ever has been. And it’s one I ask my clients all the time. It’s important because we need to know what you’re after.
Do you want to be lean?
Or do you want to be lean with some definition? Maybe you want to carry a lot of muscle. All of these options have different implications and training protocols so it’s vital to figure out what we’re after first and foremost.
So, let’s take a look..
Here’s a lean person
Most clients Say They Want to be Lean
It’s almost unanimous when they start. Clients will say they want to be lean. And I often say: “Like a distance runner?” And they say “Well, not quite that lean”. Now there’s nothing wrong with our distance runner gent in the above picture and many fitness competitors on the covers of fitness magazines are even leaner than that. So, the key is to decide if this is right for you. Maybe you want to be somewhat lean but you want to have a bit more muscle too.
That might look more like this.. Â
Here’s a Lean & Muscular Person
Perhaps this is what you’re after which is someone who’s lean and muscular. And here’s one more example of what a lean and muscular person might look like.
Again we’re ball parking things.

Another Lean & Muscular Person
Most healthy Physiques are Reasonable to Achieve so Which One Would You Like?
Still not sure? That’s ok. Maybe you want a little more muscle or maybe you’re not worried about getting lean but you want to get close to it.
All of these are good and healthy options, it’s just key to choose a general direction and get clear advice on how to achieve what you’re after because as we said, the protocols are slightly different.Â
Once you’ve got things figured out, you can start training properly and then you won’t be wasting time and energy chasing something you don’t want.
This should leave you more satisfied overall and that’s a good thing because in this case, you’re going to have to live with and in your decision.
Cheers,
